This course is designed to introduce the student to the maintenance and operation of a boiler system.  Course work will focus on boiler systems, fittings, accessories, feed water systems, combustion equipment, combustion controls, instrumentation, water treatment, and boiler operation. Upon successful completion of this course, a student should be able to describe the basic elements of a boiler system, the importance of proper maintenance and water treatment, and the operation of the boiler system. This focused, fast-paced 3-day instructional program is designed both to expand your knowledge in the energy auditing field, and to serve as a preparatory vehicle for the examination required to achieve AEE's Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) credential. You’ll gain the fundamental knowledge needed to evaluate how energy is being used in a facility, and to identify where consumption can be reduced, covering useful calculation methods and practical examples. The instructor will emphasize effective auditing basics while putting them in the context of the “big picture” and the bottom line. The CEA examination will be administered on the morning of the day following the seminar -- only to those who have qualified in advance to sit for the exam by submitting a completed CEA application. This course is designed to introduce students to the controls, components, and maintenance procedures for rotary chillers. Course work will focus on system components, refrigeration cycle, capacity control, maintenance considerations, and application standards. Upon completion a student will be able to describe  the refrigeration cycle, how capacity control is achieved, what maintenance considerations should be considered, and what applications are best suited for each configuration. This course is designed to introduce students to the operation and characteristics of centrifugal chillers. Course work will focus on components, the refrigeration cycle, operation, maintenance, chiller logging, and basic troubleshooting.  Upon completion of this course, a student should be able to identify and describe the various components of the machine, describe the refrigeration cycle, properly log the operational information, understand the maintenance requirements, and identify basic failures with the machine.
