The CPN Star Award is one of the most distinguished awards in the North Carolina construction industry. CPN of North Carolina, Inc. is a state-wide organization of business and professional leaders who are involved with design, construction and related services.

At the award ceremony on April 12, 2008 at The Homestead in Hot Spring, VA, The Proximity Hotel/Print Works Bistro received the CPN Star award. Besides its unique aesthetic qualities, the Proximity Hotel/Print Works Bistro was constructed according to the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED guidelines and is currently pursuing a Platinum LEED certification. The sustainable features include a 36% less energy usage than a conventional hotel, state-of-the-art HVAC system using many energy efficient methods, 100 solar roof panels to heat water used for the building and North America’s first Regenerative Drive model of the Otis Gen2 elevator which reduces net energy usage by capturing the system’s energy and feeding it back into the building’s internal electrical grid.
