Brady Chosen as Recipient of 2018 Family Business of the Year Award

The award, in its second year, recognizes companies with proven family leadership, a healthy record of success and overcoming challenges, careful attention to strategy, overall excellence in innovation, ethics, philanthropy, and contributions to the strength of the region, as well as a lasting legacy for the family and the community.
The winners were celebrated on Thursday, May 17th with a reception at Wake Forest University, hosted by The Center for Private Business. The other sixteen honorees cover many diverse fields and industries including manufacturing, retail, technology, health care, and construction.
With over 450 associates and 250 vehicles on the road, Brady has remained a family-owned business since its founding in 1962 when Chairman Don Brady, along with his wife Mary Gay, packed up their home in Rochester, NY and moved to Greensboro, NC to open a Trane franchise serving much of North Carolina with one truck and four employees. Over the past five decades, Don and son Jim Brady, now President and CEO of the Brady Family of Companies, have grown Brady to meet the increasing needs of clients over the southeast region, expanding from commercial HVAC equipment to a service company, parts centers, controls, energy services, retrofit, and security.
