Brady is pleased to announce that Founder and Chairman Don Brady has been named the recipient of the Freedom Award by the nonprofit organization, American Heroes for North Carolina. He was honored at the second annual Veteran’s Recognition Banquet at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro, NC on Thursday, November 8.
American Heroes for North Carolina presents the Freedom Award as a way to honor veterans who have returned to North Carolina and who have contributed greatly to the Triad community after their military service. The Freedom Award is presented to an entrepreneurial Triad company, who has been in business for at least four years, and led by a veteran who served in the military with honor.
Don Brady has long instilled a commitment to veterans at Brady, which he founded alongside his wife Mary Gay, in 1962 after serving in the United States Army. That commitment was recognized earlier this year when Brady was named the 2018 AMVETS Veteran Friendly Employer of the Year for the state of North Carolina, an award that recognizes employers from both the private sector and local, state, and federal government who have made great strides by providing employment to our veterans. Brady has a tremendous track record of successfully hiring and retaining veterans. Approximately 22% of the workforce at Brady is a self-identified veteran and the average tenure of the veteran workforce at Brady is nearly nine and a half years (9.45 years). Additionally, Brady has taken an active role in supporting veterans’ health and wellbeing in our communities through veterans-focused sponsorships with the American Heart Association and with the USO, among other activities.
